We want to share with you that we will be receiving a new pastoral appointment effective July 1st, 2021. John Yeager will be our new pastor. We will be sharing him with Christ United Methodist Church. John is 35 years old. His wife is named Aimee Yeager. She is the WNCC Communications Ministry Assistant. They have two children, Henry age 5 and Thea age 3. They will be living in our parsonage. John has been at his present appointment, Webbs Chapel in Denver, NC, about 4 years. He will be confirmed as an Elder at Conference this summer. His church did not want him to leave, but he felt that this was a good transition time for him to make a move. He credits his church members in helping make it possible to hold worship services during the pandemic. He said, “We were able to successfully transition to online worship, …and since May we have navigated the challenges of moving from online services only, to adding a parking lot service, eventually an outdoor service, and safely meeting in-person once again with vigilant safety precautions.” That sounds like Mount Tabor, doesn’t it? Moving week is June 28-July 2. We may need some helping hands and strong backs to assist, so be thinking about that! Transition Sunday is July 4th. Moving pastors will not worship or preach in their “old” appointment or their “new” appointment on that day. Normal duties for the new pastor begin on July 6th, and July 11th will be the first Sunday that the new pastor is preaching and leading worship. While we are grateful for the ministry that we have shared with Pastor Roger, I look forward to new possibilities for all as we serve in the name of Jesus Christ. I ask that you keep our current pastor and our new pastor and their families in your prayers.
Our next lesson is about a little-known poet, Frances Angermayer, who was profiled recently in a column in The Kansas City Star. During World War II, she penned what at the time was described as “the poem heard ’round the world” because of the profound impact it had on military personnel across the globe. The news article gives us the opportunity to explore how God gifts all manner of people in various ways to be of service to others.
Please join us this Tuesday at 7:00 PM
During this time of social distancing to control the spread of the virus, The Wired Word is including in the TWW student version the full lesson, with all the biblical commentary and additional discussion suggestions normally available only in the teacher’s version.
Go to our “Group Studies” page for details.
